of course it's possible...I see obese people all the time go from being severely overweight (50% body fat) to competing in fitness competitions and amateur bodybuilding contests. it takes a couple of years but it is definetly achievable

Yes, it is possible. However, it will take time. Depending on your current weight and it's distribution, it could easily take 2-3 years to do it healthily. Also, many obese people have an excess of skin once they lose the fat and gain muscle. This is a cause for concern for some who want to look as good as possible. There are remedies for this, but I'd work on losing the weight and being healthy first, and worry about this later. Best of luck, and stick with it.

A great website to visit is:
http://www.burnthefat.com/?hop=gotryitnow
The site was created by a personal trainer and shows you great ways to lose the weight (especially fat) and keep it off forever.
It also explains to you why most diets you try will fail.
I am 5'7" and was 175 when I started. I've been on this program for 3 months and I've lost a total of 25 lbs.
It will take time, but with dedication it's definitely possible.

I'm not sure if your pectorial muscles (six pack) would show too well even if you lost a bunch of weight because of the extra skin. I've seen people lose a lot of weight but their stomach area is still flabby due to the extra skin from losing weight. I guess it depends because the guy above me is right, there are also guys that went from obese to bodybuilder. No matter if you get a six pack or not, you should still take steps to a healthier body. Good luck. =]
