I have two cats, One is four the other is one, not related, boy and girl, both fixed and most of the time get on great. They sleep together, groom each other and its lovely to watch but the younger one, bella who is a 1 years old BSH is very dominant and can be a little too playful at times and when it goes too far Gizmo has to put her in her place. I understand this is normal. And I keep cleaning up their chosen battle grown afterwards. But at what age Does a BSH british short haired calm down? Gizmo is a persian and he's so layed back he just lets her pick on him. Its usually at night which means redirecting her attention isn't always an option. Advice would be grately recieved from me and gizmo :)

Most cats settle down between 2 and 3 years of age.

What you describe sounds indeed normal. Just make sure things don't get out of hand. If they do, separate them for a while.

Another way to keep things calm is to play with the girl a lot - use a fishing rod toy like Da Bird, or a Cat Dancer or laser pointer. The more you tire her out, the less energy she'll have to annoy Gizmo. :)

Well I used to think my Boy cat was picking on his litter-sister all the time, until I watched her go up and tease him one day. The daily routine was for Homer to sing around the house about an hour before we wanted to get up, race up on the window ledge to look out, jump down and go tease his sister, chasing her down 2 flights of stairs and out of the cat flap at full pelt. They did this every day until he died unexpectedly from a blood clot - two days before their 7th birthday.

And he was definately a BSh moggie, so no guarantees that you're going to get peace soon!

Sometimes cats stay really hyperactive their whole lives. If your cat is already 1, and she's still super playful, she's gonna be that way until she's either super old, or super obese( i doubt she'd get obese though since she likes to play). As for Gizmo, sadly, he will have to learn to suck it up and take the punches from the younger female kitty...

theres not much you can do i suggest that you let them start to fight then spray them with water not alot of water just a little spray gun. it will calm down after only a short period of time. you need to stop them from hurting each other many disease's and infections can come from bites and scratches on animals. good luck
