You might want to do a search in your area first. That far to travel could be traumatic for a pup.

Also, you need to check on quarantine laws there. I know when we were moving to Guam, they had a 4 month quarantine for animals because they are a rabies free island. THAT would have been traumatic for our dog at that time... so we found a good home for her with a heavy heart before we left.

There are many purebred dogs in shelters. Also check if there is a Maltese Rescue in your country.

If your not dead set on a maltese, consider other similar breeds or mixes. We got both of our purebred Silky Terriers through RESCUES and they are a TOTAL joy!!!

Best of luck finding your new companion!!! ; )

touch your community shelters first. I in basic terms accompanied my 5th canines. I have been given her from the Humane Society. I have been sponsoring this canines for the final quite a few months (with money donations). She grow to be contemporary in an deserted abode, without food and water. surely, in basic terms left to die. She grow to be rescued at 4 months of age. She lived on the shield for over 6 years. She's real shy around human beings. All she extremely knew up as much as now grow to be shield existence. it extremely is been in basic terms 2 days, and she or he already follows me around the abode and gets excited once I come abode after being long previous. bypass to the shield, you will discover a great canines and you'd be saving a existence, or severely convalescing one. If accessible, get 2 or 3.

Before you try a breeder why don't you try a rescue service? There are many wonderful dogs who need a loving home. My family have used these services for our rottweilers without dissapointment. We are experianced with rotties so you should do well. Try your local animal shelter for a reference. A lonely dog will love you for it!

Here are some good, registered Maltese breeders in NZ http://www.dogzonline.co.nz/breeds/breeders/maltese.asp
You should also go to the forums, http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/ and there might be someone there who can help you.

petfinder.com is a website where you can look for dogs up for adoption, if you'd be willing to adopt a dog.
