If she is SLEEPING" then her heart is not beating too fast for her! When a cat's heart beats too fast and hard, the cat will usually be panting. Compared to our own heartbeast, a cat's heartbeats will seem very fast... but if you kitty is sleeping, it sounds like she is at REST and that is her normal heartbeat. But if it truly worries you, take her to the vet tomorrow for a checkup. Vet always listens to your pet's heartbeat, heartrate, breathing rate, etc. as a matter of course. Don't worry sweetie... I think yor kitten is fine.

A lot of times kittens hearts can beat really fast, even when they're not excited. It may not even be continuous. Babies of all species have rapid heart rates. If this doesn't satisfy you though, and you're still really worried, call a vet and ask them. Better safe than sorry. Hope your kitten develops into a big, healthy kitty.

Cats have HIGHER heart rates than humans. A human on average has a HR of around 70 beats per minute, whereas a cat has a NORMAL heart rate of 140-160 beats per minute. that is DOUBLE of what you are used to in humans. It is not uncommon for a kitten to have a high rate of 180. So since she is sleeping and relaxed-- you probably just feel a normal fast rate that cats normally have.

I bet your kitty is just dreaming... If something was wrong with his heart, I think the rapid heart beat would be non stop. Don't worry- wake him up and see if he is ok, and responsive.
