My Dad just hit me! Does he have any right to do this? He's already been convicted of 2 or 3 child abuse cases, should I report him again? This could get him arrested and put in jail for years!

Reporting him will also get you taken away and put in foster care. Then, if you're lucky, you'll find "good foster parents". However, that's not the case everytime. (I've went to school with many kids who witnessed this). You'll take the chance of actually witnessing what child abuse really is. They will hit you every single day. Leave bruises. Maybe even rape you. You won't have your little computers and tv and your little toys you play with. And most of all, you won't see your parents ever again.

Now would you rather live with your father, or pick up the phone and report him for "child abuse"?

I don't know what you did, but I highly doubt your father hit you hard enough to be considered "child abuse" enough to call and "get him arrested" when you can still use the computer and type (trying to get sympathy from people on yahoo answers). How about your father actually throws you down the stairs and breaks every bone in your body, and then you won't be able to move for anything? Then you can come scream child abuse to me. Until then, I don't have any sympathy. With so many kids telling their parents to leave them the f*** alone and shut up, you probably did something that made you deserve to be "hit".

Hey, Mike, What's happening? We get you straight on the sex thing a couple weeks ago and now your Dad pops you?

As usual, you are at the right place. You see most of the negative comments already? More info, better place and time, questioning if you are for real? Right.

That is like your neighbors. You already have friends, family and school people who know about your Dad and his ideas. Do you think it would help you to talk with them? Of course not.

Getting him arrested will not do anything for you. Jail, or prison, will not help him either.

You are old enough now to consider having sex, you are also old enough to work through your own problems. Mike, you are old enough to work through this problem.

There are many solutions, but I will give you one to consider.

You must set your boundaries with him just like anyone else in your life. You must tell him, in a way that he understands, that he is no longer welcome or free to hit you.

It is the first step. It may be the hardest step. IMHO you must do this soon. Even today IF you can do so safely.

If it just provokes him to hit you again, well, don't do that!!

Maybe you can call him on the phone. Maybe from a payphone if you don't want to involve anyone else.

Of those who responded to you, that I read anyway, I didn't see many that said they had suffered violence from their own father. Maybe that explains some of their answers.

In my experience, the best solution for you, is to find a safe way to tell him directly that he is not to hit you again.

I hope that you find a peaceful solution to this problem.

depends if you did,but even if you did thats still no excuse but theres alot of different types of so called hitting theese days, and if he had been convicted 2 or 3 times of child abuse you deffinatly wouldn't be with him now but if your really freaked out call a friends mom or dad for support arrange to staythere the night then call the police when they come and pick you up

hmm, if he's been convicted of child abuse I doubt you're with him right now.
And if you deserved to be hit, then so be it. However if it's gone to where he bruises you and actually "beats" you (rather than a spanking) you should speak to a counselor at school.

I suggest you discuss this with your mother, or other trusted adult. This is the wrong place to bring this sort of problem as anyone here can tell you something and if you follow up it could cause major problems. You need to speak with an adult who is aware of the situation at home. Not a bunch of strangers.

well im a strong believer of chastising a child. however, abuse is never anyones right i would say depends on what you did and evaluate this situation and separate the facts between punishment and abuse

how old are you? either way he could be charged with child abuse or he could be arrested for DV if you are 18 and living in the household.

Did he hit you or BEAT you, are you bleeding or are you just being a brat? You decide. If you are bleeding or if he beat you to the point of black and blue, then yeah, you better call someone. NO ONE needs to do that to their child!! If you deserved a smack in the head then get over it and start behaving.

If he is being abusive, yes you should report him. You should not have to deal with that.
