I have been getting these weird 'brain shocks' that last for a couple seconds, that feel like my brain was zapped. Then all of a sudden, I put on a large amount of weight in a short time, and even through exercise and eating right, I didn't lose anything. (Mind you, i'm 18) Even more recently, my brain seems to be shot. I can't remember ANYTHING, and I have been losing certain words, or trying to call something-something else. And I have been getting about 2 migraines a week. (Not caffeine withdrawals.)Also, I have been strangely exhausted. I can understand that I will be on days I work hard, but sometimes I will take a 5 hour nap, get up for 2-3 hours, then go to bed and sleep for7-8. And now, over the past week, my lower back has been hurting, stemming from my low left side, then spreading across. Starting yesterday, my joints and bones have been aching like crazy, and sometimes I feel like I can't move because they hurt so bad! Now, Random muscles feel like they're bruised.

Help?

Thanks to everyone that responded, and I have an apt. on friday, but my doctors don't really run any tests or anything-they all say i'm fine. So I had posted this to possibly gain some info/possible reasons to bring up during ht apt., for him to run tests on. Thanks again for your time!

I was surprised, and looked up Cushings Syndrome like someone suggested, and I found that I had just about all the symptoms, as did my mom, grandma and a couple aunts. (it's hereditary too.) I am going to have them run some tests on friday to figure out if it is, which hopefully it will be so I will know what is wrong. Thanks to all!

Likely that a chiropractor and massage therapist can help but there is the possibility that it is not just misalignment and muscles

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

first got to Web MD.com and go thru your symptoms. write out, like what you have done here and take this information to your DR. You do not say you have go to a DR. I would make that a priority for tomorrow and do not take a brush off, be prepared with questions (write them down if necessary). This sounds like there is something to be concerned about and even if it is something that you need not worry about, you need to know that as well. You might look at the symptoms of stroke for one, lupis for another, but then again can't tell much thru the computer. Best of luck to you, but get you *** to a Doctor soonest. Even an emergency room if necessary, maybe like even right now........

For God Sake see a doctor!!! I don't even want to get into the million things that could be. The brain is not to be taken lightly. This sounds like any number of neurological problems and you should not take any specific advise from this site...we may be smart but we are definitely not brain surgeons. REALLY. See someone as soon as possible!!!

Why is it that you would think someone here could help you? Before anyone can help you, they first need to know precisely what's going on, and that's called a diagnosis. That's the job of a trained and qualified doctor, who has taken your personal and family history, examined you and order whatever tests s/he deems necessary.

Without a diagnosis, no amount of advice can possible be of any assistance to you.

SEE YOUR DOCTOR.

Ok, first if your DR is not taking you seriously, get a second opinion, and ask for a referal to a neurologist. They deal specifically with the brain. Chart everything. Take notes and ask questions. Be ASSERTIVE with your DR. While he may be the trained professional, you are ultimately responsible for your body and taking care of it. Good luck.
