Yes, it is bad to eat just before sleeping. Your stomach needs rest too, and the motion of it trying to process food makes your sleep less fitful. It takes energy, energy you need to stay asleep.
It's especially bad to have heavy meat, like steak, or starches, like spaghetti or pancakes before bed.
If you have to eat before sleeping, a couple of mouthfuls of turkey might help. A couple of bites of turkey drumstick, but not a sandwich. Also drinking a glass of warm milk is more than just a rumor or old wives tale; studies show that helps people sleep. Both turkey and milk contain amino acids that trigger sleep centers in the brain. Try not to eat less than 2 hours before sleeping. It takes more time for food to go down the esophagus than people realize.
Lots of people don't know it, but water also activates the glands that make stomach acid. So a little water helps process food faster, but don't drink so much you'll have to wake up to use the bathroom. Or as they say in Europe, "water closet" or "loo".

The typical answer you would get to this question like this is that eating before bedtime will cause weight gain. This is untrue. As long as you are not going over your suggested daily caloric intake, it does not matter what time of the day you eat. Your stomach will digest the food just the same while you sleep as it does when you are awake. As a matter of fact, a person actually burns an average of 100 calories while they sleep.
The most common problem with eating before bed is a chance of heartburn. If you do not suffer from this problem, then don't worry about it. If you do and still wish to have a meal before crashing, eat something light and without much acid (stay away from spicy, citrus, greasy, etc.)

I've heard that it is; however, I have tried not eating and eating before I go to bed and I actually feel better when I have something. If I don't, my stomach hurts with pain and makes me wake up early. Mind you, I have several debilitating diseases which may influence why this makes my particular physiology this particular way compared to other people.

Dear Citizen North,
Yes it is bad to eat right before you sleep. When you sleep your tummy is resting too. Tht leaves the food rotting in your tummy until morning. Gross!
Sincerely, a friend

YES! Eating before sleeping causes you to stay up and sends your brain a sign to stay awake, what i do is not eat after 7 p.m.
you can still eat something before you go to sleep but eat a half and hour before going to sleep, oh and avoid drinking coffee at night it keeps you awake and hyper.

I think it is better not to take any food one hour before you go to sleep. For further information, if you don't want to gain weight, don't eat after 9:00 p.m.
