what do girls at 13/14 look for in a friend or boyfriend?

As a 47 year old man, I can only give you a very partial answer. But some things wanted by females of ALL ages are:

1. Ability and willingness to communicate emotionally.
2. Not a selfish jerk.
3. Make them feel safe and comfortable with you.

#3 is true even of those females who want a dangerous/bad-boy edge as well.

There are other things too, namely what makes a guy hot/cool/cute/whatever, and I won't pretend to know the answer to that in your world.

But the things I mentioned are both A. Important and B. Under your control.

Once I had those qualities, I was confident (rightly so, in retrospect) that the ability to attract desirable women would follow soon.

i say it depends on the girl, some girls are looking for someone cool and whom they can have a relationship with, other girls just want someone to show off, so for them u would have to be either hot or really really cool.

I am 14 and i would have to say of course good looks, responsible, DON'T BE A JERK OR KNOW IT ALL!, and just all around good personality.
