I'm not into the bar scene. I'm in my 30s, and work for myself. How can I get out and mingle, that's not through the church? But yet a safe place to go to alone on the spur of the moment.

Come on people, I need more ideas... pretty please. And remember, I'd prefer something I can do on the spur of the moment. Working for myself, I'm alone a lot, so I want to be around people.

Try volunteer work. There are lots of groups that have regular times and a place where they meet, and they work on some issue. It may not be on the spur of the moment, though, but if you know you have someplace to go every week, it lends stability to your time. You can also try networking groups like Lions or Kiwanis or you can try Toastmasters, where you learn new skills. If you just want to hang out, a lot of professionals go to coffeeshops with their laptops to hang out, and it's safe.

I think doing some volunteer work like feeding homeless or habitat are great. If your business has conventions, thats always good, And just as important, be open at all times to smile when you see an appropriate type guy even in the supermarket. Guys are afraid of rejection for some reason, but if you are friendly, they will try to meet you if they are intrested.

Come to my house maria, its completely safe ;) J/k

Join some activity clubs that do things like sports, biking etc. Special interest groups, volunteer things like habitat for humanity. You can meet other people that are out to be fit or help the community. While avoiding the whole church thing and bars.
