If when you die you can still count your friends on one hand you are a lucky man. True friends are very, very difficult to find. A friend will stick through you no matter what. Most people are fair weather friends, they will stick with you through thick or thin as long as things are going good.

As many as you care to hold on to. I have lived in many cities all over the world and I travel thousands of miles to meet them at least once every 12-24 months.
By the way, don't EVER expect a perfect friend. Everyone has flaws. As long as their good outweights their bad, cut them some slacks, as you shall receive the same.

If you are extremely lucky, you'll get one real lifelong friend. I'm still very close friends with my 1st best friend who I met when I was 2 years old.
My best friend from high school is still one of my best friends even though we aren't in touch as often as we'd like.
Then again, the friends you make today can be your friends the rest of your life provided 1) They are worth having as part of your life; and 2) You tend to your friendship throughout the years.

Good question. REAL friends take an investment of time and emotional energy. I guess it depends on how much time one has for socializing apart from family and work. They say the success of a person is determined by the number of true friends present at his/her funeral. Yikes!

Not to sound like a cliche but it is actually very hard tofind one good true friend but i believe throughout your life you can expect around 2 or 3...so many peope come into our lives daily but it is those few that choose to stick around even when things arent perfect.....
