Does anyone know when or if the bass caught on day one or day two are released back into water that tournament is on? Is it in the rules of the classic to release or not to release at certain times? Any and all info would be appreciated.

yes they do release the fish after weigh-in if they are alive. Of course if there were dead ones, that angler would be penalized.

After weigh in the fish are put in tanks in truck with treated water to keep the stress down and replenish their slime. They are transfered to a pontoon like boat with tanks on which release them in bunches in different parts of the lake.
Interesting, once they are released, studies of tagged fish show that many of the fish seem to make their way back to where they were caught after a few days.

Most state wildlife commissions require that all caught fish be released back into the water in/near the nearest point to the weigh in station. However, since they (anglers in the Classic) do their weigh-ins at coliseums nowadays, who knows?

As the conservation and upkeep of our fishing resources continues to expand, I guarantee they are taken immediately to the lake and released. Alot of big tourneys now days have boats that actually travel around and disperse of the fish in different areas.

The way I understand it after weigh in the fish are taken back to the river system they were caught in and released. This gets them back to their enviroment sooner and lessens the chance of fish that die.
