Consider the popular Nikon 18-200 VR lens, if you can find one. Okay, it's not the world's PERFECT lens, but it is not too shabby. Go here and read Rockwell's review:

Go here and look at the sample images. Click on them to view them full screen. If you click at least once in the white space, your cursor will turn into a magnifier when you scroll it back over the image. Click again over the image and it will zoom to 100% size so you can really examine the image.

"Optically, this lens is the best superzoom we’ve seen, though it’s not compatible with Nikon teleconverters, extension rings, or coupled macro bellows. It also costs about $300 more than third-party digital-only glass. But are extremely rugged construction, unusually well-controlled distortion, and four extra handholdable speeds worth the extra bucks? That, and more."

Well, mate, this is a really good camera, D200, and you are in good luck of having it :) I love it, but don't have enough to buy :D
With this camera, most of the lenses of Nikon can be used! from the manual focus AI-s, which was produced long time ago, to the latest lenses today.
If you are looking for a telephoto lens, which has a extremely good quality, the Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 IF ED VR is a good choice for you. However, that is heaps of banana ( I mean it is really expensive, nearly $1800 USD). With the VR option, which is Vibiration Reduction, you can reduce the shakes resulting in makin the picture sharper at low speed.
This is the lens that most expert recomend for professional photographer. It has a medium tele focal lenght.
Kenrockwell.com is a good site that review these accesories, however, this lens is widely introduced and reviewed by many people that we can search on the internet. Just try to type: Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 IF ED VR in your google and then you will be stikcing with it. It's amazing :)
Beside that, with the little amount of money, such as $300 and below, the Sigma APO 70-300 f4.5-5.6 DG macro or Tamron 70-300 Di Macro is a good idea for you. I have one Sigma APO. they also provide the macro option which has the 1:2 ratio. I have some of my macro pictures taken with this lens here, that you can have a look: http://www.flickr.com/photos/khiemnikon/
In conclude, with money, the 70-200mm VR is the best choice, i think, if you don't need the longer focal length. There is a 80-400mm VR as well, but u know, it's more expensive and we don't need to use that long 400mm
Hope you get a new lens :) that you like :)
