In 1962 on the Greg Craig Show he admitted that money came into it, but did not want to get into that fight anyways. Robinson said that Burley had the "style to beat him." But look at Tarver too, just because he beat Jones does not make him great, same with Douglas-Tyson. Robinson accomplished so much, who cares if he didn't want to negotiate with a guy he didn't care to fight? I don't care, he was still the best boxer ever.

I asked this question a month or two ago. What came out was that he was advised by his trainer and manager not to fight him. Robinson would have fought him but the advisers chose different fighters for him. I have also read the book Pound For Pound since then and no mention of Burley is in the book. So we will not get the actual answer there.

I've heard that money came into play, but I'm not totally sure on that.I personally don't think Ray was scared to fight Charley, but that 's just an observation.

Not enough money envolved to offset the risk, odds are if the money would have been right, Ray would have took the fight.
