when they have like a second collection, or *for myself a priest, other than my own* ask to make a donation to a organation and to fill out this envelope and put money, or a check, or a credit card number on there.

I only enough money with me for the collection. And i don't know there's gonna be a second collection, or a priest there to discuss something next week for donations...i always feel so bad that i have no extra money on me. I don't bring my purse with me. I just feel stupid for having it with me.

Anyways...why do i feel bad when i don't have any extra money for these kind of donations?

Because you are a kind and sensitive person. God is not about money. The priest maybe. But God is not. Do what you can do and don't feel guilty. God bless you for going to church and giving, especially in this day and age.

Ultimately, the church desires your money. They claim to want to make you a better person, but they fill you with guilt and self-loathing. Those are not healthy traits; they are the traits of an abused wife.

But the abused person keeps returning to the church in order to be told that she is worthless and to be badgered.

Not all churches are like this. Some are legitimately concerned for their people. But a second collection? That's a scam, pure and simple. The church is more interested in fattening its coffers than save people.

This is why you must explore your own path. Seek wisdom from others, but do not accept sole counsel from a priest, especially when that priest holds his hand out for a donation.

Naturally, churches do not want you to learn on your own. This is why they teach you that self-realization is dangerous. If they can frighten you into their brand of belief, then they can coax more money out of you.

I suggest dropping that church and seek a more honest one.

Edit: A foodbank collection is a different matter, but it still should not make you feel guilty. Most people would like to give more to help the less fortunate.

If you want to help more but cannot afford to put too much into the plate, then see if you can spare some time instead. Often, foodbanks need labor in sending out the foods they collect. I cannot always give money to my local charity, but I am more than willing to be an auctioneer for a charity auction or coordinate a raffle. It's not direct help, but it does help to raise money that wasn't there before. Every little bit helps.

You see there's churches that are just there for collecting money. But then there's the churches, even if somewhat small, are really for the porpuse of worshiping God. And I tell you, don't feel bad becasue you can't give more. Just give in the first or second, and if you can only give one dollar, give it with the feeling that you are satified with your deed, knowing that what you gave is what you could give and not giving with sadness.

While I don't think it's right that they make you feel bad. If they make you feel bad maybe you should look elsewhere for a new church. As far as feeling bad for not being able to give extra, don't. God doesn't expect us to give until we have no more to live on. I think that if God blesses you then you should bless others, but you shouldn't have to live in squalor to make sure everyone else is okay. That guilt you feel is Satan trying to bring you down. The reason you tithe is kind of a thank you to God for what He did for us and what He does for us in our lives, so we want to try to give something back to Him in remembrance.

Don't feel bad, it isn't about how much and it isn't about appearances. Give what you truly can and leave it at that. If you have extra, great. God know your heart and putting money in a plate or not will not change that.

You shouldn't feel bad because you can't give what you don't have and God knows this. It's your choice to give if you want and where you want to.

They need your money to spread their disease. Not tossing in twenties in the basket is like spraying Bactine on a wound.
