He's a my coworker (Mexican) and we can understand each other 40% of the time. Usually we just make hand gestures and simple words. I am trying my best to learn Spanish because of him. He's hinting most of the time that he likes me but never went too far to ask me out. Maybe because we're really different: social status wise, 2 years younger than me (meaning less mature?) and a potential flirt. But he really makes me so happy. I know we'll be happier if we could actually be together. But is it worth it to date someone you can't 100% understand? I know communciation is vital in serious relationships. Will it work?

i think you should really go for it. I mean yeah language is important but communication isnt only from speaking. Its body language, and just how being around that other makes you feel. I think you should go for it. Being around eachother will help you both learn eachothers languages. Plus you guys could have fun teaching eachother words in your language.

This happens in Europe all the time, The people involved find a way to learn each others language or a different langusge that both understand. If he has trouble with English and you have problems with Spanish, Think of how cool it would be for both to go to a nightschool and learn French:)

Girl you should give him a little more time, if he likes you too than he probably is doing his best in learning english just for you. It takes a little bit of time, but it'll be worth it. I should know l'm from Mexico myself and look at me now l'm on the internet writing in english n_n
Just give him a little more time, and learn words you can say to him in spanish when you two are flirting, or alone, if you know what i mean n_n

well you need to tell him that youneed help to speak spanish if you like him say tu ta quiero I like you.. I hope i spell that right I am not a good speller in spanish but I know how to speak it. just get a book and a cassette tape with words that you want to learn and go from there... oh one more thing take a class for spainsh and everything will go smooth good luck

Sure, you should date him. If you feel you're starting to fall in love with him it can't be too hard for each of you to learn the others language.

Work a little bit hard at speaking spanish. communication in a good relationship really is key.

Yea i kind of dream of this sometimes myself. Find a girl that doesnt speak english so when she's on that time of the month she can fight and babble all she wants and i wont know what it means so I wont be offended.
I think its a great idea.
