If you have Windows Media Player (WMP) installed, audio files with extensions such as avi, mp3, wav, wma and others, are usually associated with it. When any file with these extensions is clicked, WMP is the default application program.

However, if you had another media player installed, for instance Winamp, these extensions may have been associated with it and not with WMP. You can start WMP and under Tools, Options, File Types, re-associate audio files to play using WMP by default.

Limewire has a built-in player that plays audio files. This player can be disabled. Look under Tools, Options, Player. This player only works if you click on audio files that are in the the download list. If you are using Windows Explorer and clicked on any audio file, the Limewire player does not work. It is not a standalone media player.
