Yes, they do usually have a waranty. Remanufactured usually means they check it out for faults, reformat the HD and blow out the dust.

They do NOT have the same warranty. I went through hell because of this and eded up in a lawsuit with Compaq computers. I bought three refurbs (which was not disclosed to me at the time). All three of them had issues just after the one year mark. When Icalled and found out that these were refurbisshed systems and "out of warranty" I was not happy. The vendor would not do anything (although they had sold them as "new". Compaq admitted that they had had complaints about this vendor before (same issue) yet Compaq stillallowed these guys to resell the refurbs. Many refurbs only have 90 days. Be VERY leary! New laptops with full warranties are so inexpensive these days it hardly seems worth it to deal with future issues.

my friend was a computer specialist, and when it came to laptops he wouldn't touch them... because, there really is no way to upgrade them w/o massive problems, and once they get old, then they can't be modernized. So following his philosophy, no, it isn't a good idea to by it remanufactered

cheaper, yes. smart, no. They're more apt to break and can be expected to have a fare number of flaws.
