Im turning 13 next week. Today my parents told me to come home for 5 for dinner, and I lost track of time. As soon as I realised I ran home but I was a hour late. As soon as I got in my dad was all mad and started telling me if Im not going to be home when Im told that Im not going to be allowed out as much and blah blah blah. I got really mad and told him to shut up. He got up and kinda yelled at me to go to my room and go to bed. It was way too early to go to bed and he was being mean. I said no I wont leave me the f alone. He got up and took my arm and dragged me to my room. Next thing I knew he had my pants down and was spanking me over his lap with the back of my hairbrush and he wouldnt stop even though I tried to get him to. It really hurt and I havent been spanked in over a yr I thought 13 was too old to be spanked. Is this right?

I would think so....but what I think is most wrong is that he is pulling your pants down. He should not be doing that at your age. Definitely inappropriate.
But you should be respecting your parents and not talking to them like that as long as you are under their roof.

An hour late for dinner ... usual consequence is to go without dinner or evening lunch.
For the sass, the backtalk, the impudence, the vulgar language towards your parents ... the hairbrush seems to have been the least you could expect. (In some homes you might not have turned 13 next week!!)
He shouldn't have dragged you to your room though. If you were not willing to go when told, then he should have whacked your backside where it was!! And next time, be more mature and bare your own butt .... don't make him bare it for you!!
I think experience teaches that being NEARLY 13 isn't "too old" to be spanked. Maybe being 13 - 15 actually means to expect more spankings, spankings that really sting, especially when your mouth is in motion but the mind is not in gear!!

You refused to go to your room and to bed when told.
You used the "f" word to him.
That seems at least four things for which he whacked you. You might have gotten 4 x your age.
Yes, you are too old to deserve to be spanked.
But it is NOT right that you should show such disrespect to your parents.
Next time, when you are 13, maybe you can expect for him to
REALLY whack your backside with that hairbrush!!

Only a 13 year old that doesn't do what his or her parents want them to do should be spanked. When a child(under 18) disrespects their parents wishes, they deserve punishment. Parents will often wait for something big to happen(they worry about you when you aren't home) then punish you for all the little things that they don't like at this time also.
ALWAYS remember your reaction to all of this when you have your own children someday!

Well if you think your too old to be spanked, dont disrespect your dad!
If he had spanked you just for being late, that I think is not right, but you told him to leave you the f*** alone! so you crossed the line there...
Im not saying you need to cower to your dad and do whatever he tells you to do all the time, but give him a little respect and he will give it back.

13 isn't "too old" to be spanked, when you think you're so slick that you can talk to your dad in that way. And you got a hair brush? Big wow. If I had done that, I (for one) wouldn't have any teeth right now. I wouldn't be able to sit down neither for the rest of my LIFE. I would have most likely experienced what "child abuse" REALLY is.
Treat your parents with respect. You're lucky to have both parents. Next time your father tells you to do something simple like "Go to your room", just do it. Don't try to act all bad, and you won't have to worry about losing your teeth next time.

Well, if you think you`re too old for a spanking then you should also think that you`re too old to act like a spoiled brat. You were in the wrong. You should have apologised and told your father you lost track of time instead of being rude to him. Did you think that maybe he was worried about you?
If I were you I would apologise to him and tell him you deserved the spanking and that you`re going to behave from now on...

let me tell you something young man first you dont curse at your parents thats a big nono i would have spanked you so fast after the 1st curse word that you would have not had time for a 2nd curse word and no you are not too old to get spanked if you was my child and you didnt do as i say and you living under my roof you would probably get spanked every single day because i dont play that stuff now im not an old lady so dont think that but you need to have respect and always be on time and things will be better for you and thats that

Sorry hun, sounds like you deserved it. A wrist watch isn't all that expensive you know! And telling the old man to shut up was mistake numbet two. No, 13 is NOT too old for a butt spankin' and as for the blah blah blah, well maybe staying home more is not unreasonable either - and BTW I'm only 17, not a parent or anything.

Your parents love you and worry about you. This world is not safe and if you love your parents then you would not put them under undue stress by missing curfew. You abused your parents trust and then instead of being apologetic you turn nasty.When you realized that you were late, you should have called to let them know that you were on your way and that you were sorry that you lost track of time.
If one of my children had ever spoken to me the way you spoke to your parents, there would have more than a sore rear-end to be worried about. You got off easy. Count yourself lucky.

Start being more respectful to your parents. Your dad may have went a little overboard but as a parent I know how frustrating kids can be. Next time at least call your dad and tell him that you are on your way and that you are sorry for being late, that will show him that you are more responsible.

Yes you are too old to be spanked and the matter that you were spanked with your pants down at 13, I would be so embarassed and have felt so violated. However, you were very disrespecful to your parents and you may now understand it now, but one day you will. I have been spanked when I was a kid, but now I'm older and live on my own. However if you were my child, I would have made sure that you never spoke to me like that EVER again. Good luck!!
