My cat has been licking, scratching, and biting an area on her back right above her tail. It's right along the spine, a small-ish spot, maybe the size of a half dollar or so.

She's going a little bald there, and she has little, tiny (puncture-like) scabs from what I assume must be from biting herself. She had this problem before, once with fleas on her tummy, then from ringworms around her bottom (going bald and such).

I've checked her over many times now, and she seems to have neither, though. What could this be?

Thanks cat-lovers! <3

It's not fleas, trust me. I've had a lot of problems with fleas in the past, and there are no signs of them now.

Also, the ringworms have already been treated, almost 8 months ago. No fleas since then, so I doubt she could have a reinfection.

As far as an allergy: What kind of allergy could cause this? Could food allergies do this?

And finally, seeing a vet: Already going for a check-up soon, just getting a head start before we go.

take her to the vet, could be parasites, you can't see them with bare eyes. also fleas. Get to the vet! and once you get treatment, keep her on it, ie flea meds

It's impossible to tell over the internet - it could be fleas of ringworm (not necessarily visible to the naked eyes), some other type of parasite, allergies, maybe an insect bite...

Only the vet can tell you for sure, and recommend the right kind of treatment.

Good luck! :)

not except you comprehend why your cat or dogs is biting themselves. must be fleas, allergic reactions, mites, dermis an infection, and so on. and so on. and so on. Please take them to the vet for an examination and prognosis, and then ingredient you would be able to or won't have the skill to handle them at abode, counting on what's inflicting the itchiness.
