No it's not good. It's dangerous. It opens the door to Satan. Do not be tempted into playing around with it.

There is no such thing as good magic or white magic...it's all calling on Satan for assistance. That's someone you don't want to be in a relationship with.

It depends on the religion. Christianity seldom practices witchcraft, but in Wicca it is one of the central defining traits of the faith.

There is no such thing as "white" or "black" witchcraft. Witchcraft is a technique, like prayer, that is used in a variety of different religious contexts -- yes, including Christianity and Judaism -- and sometimes in no religious context at all.

Witchcraft 101 would go something like this, at least as I was taught: All things in the universe are interconnected by energy, which some witches (including Wiccans) perceive as Divine in nature. This is how witchcraft works: by focussing my intent, and using sympathetic correspondances (certain herbs for courage, for example), I can create an amulet using those herbs which will stimulate courage in the person who wears it. Similarly, by using a lock of hair from a person who is ill, I can (with their permission) set energies in motion that will help them to heal.

Witchcraft is not a game, or a toy. It is a serious process of setting energies in motion, some of them quite large. And if you're not careful, the backlash can be very nasty.

Say, for example, you do a spell to get $2000 to pay a bill, but do not specify "with harm to none" or any other conditions. You might end up getting that $2000 dollars -- because you slipped on some ice, broke your arm, and are getting an insurance settlement worth $2000. Each spell has to be carefully thought out and prepared, and executed with focus, or else nothing at all is going to happen.

Witchcraft is not something you learn how to do overnight. It's a process of becoming attuned to yourself and the universe around you. One of the first lessons any Wiccan is taught is: "Know thyself." This isn't easy, and often it isn't pretty, but it IS necessary.

You also have to be constantly mindful of what Wiccans call the Rule of Three -- whatever you do magically, for good or ill, will come back on you three times over. So cursing someone, for example, is a very bad idea.

Witchcraft is not an easy path. It takes years of dedicated work to become effectiive at it. You can't just pull a spell out of a book, light a candle, and expect it to work -- without the necessary skills of concentration and focus, your working will have no power.

My advice to you is that if you feel called to use witchcraft, and it does not put you in ethical conflict with your religious system, by all means investigate it as an option.

I wish you the best of luck on your path.

There are two points to consider.

1. The risks of witchcraft
Witchcraft deploys the use forces which are not of godly nature. These forces will assist you, guide you and carry out your requests or commands provided you do what is needed for them. However, if dissatisfied, these forces may turn against you and you will be in a lot of trouble ecspecially if you do not know what you are doing. Plus, association with such forces and such practices creates a negative aura around you. You may have social problems and problems with life in general.

2. The actions performed by using witchcraft
Use of witchcraft for personal gain is a bad karma. Use of witchcraft to cause harm to others is one of the worst kind of karma one can accumulate. Never take karmas lightly. The sufferings and pain many people go through in life is a result of past karma. Karmas determine everything from your physical appearance, health, wealth, success, personality, emotions, etc.

My suggestion, stay away from it. If you are interested in developing supernatural powers, go for tantric meditation ( chakra based ). There are much more power within you than any witchcraft can provide.

Depends on how you use it. If your intentions are good, then go for it. But study up first, there is much to learn. For the most part, witchcraft is just folk magic and has been used in all cultures and in all religions. There's nothing evil about it.

Oh and you'd only be "opening the door to Satan" if you are invoking him. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

prairiecraft's answer is very, very good.
with what Christians will tell you about witchcraft and magic
think about this
"God created the heavens and the earth" sounds like He made pretty much everything to me.
hmmm, everything?
hmmm, that tells me their God created magic which is the "Craft of the witch"
which ALSO tells me, everything after that fist part was SEVERLY tampered with.
that was just a simple stretch of thought by just their first chapter.

if you do magic, remember it's your intention that makes the magic, good or bad.
use it for good and you'll be ok, use it for bad and like anything else and you'll pay for your actions.

Witchcraft is simply the use of the creative powers of our own minds. Prayers and spells work the exact same way. Creative visualization and the physical attributes of the power of positive thinking are all in play.

According to the Bible, the Christian/Jewish God does not like witchcraft very much.

But it is good to use, it's a lot of fun, and the worst thing that will happen to you is you might singe your fingers on a candle. Don't worry about being damned to hell for all eternity and what-not.

Christians don't approve. It has nothing to do with God, just their VIEW of God.

Anyone of any religion can use Spell Craft.

Spells are enacted prayers.

According to the God of Abraham, all sorcery is bad.

Good thing I'm not a follower of that god, Eh?

Depends on what you mean by Witchcraft.

Some forms of magic(k) are expressly forbidden by the Abrahamic deity, so if you're Christian, they are right out.

That being said, there is a buttload of Christian magic, so if that's your faith, stick with that.

There's no such thing as witchcraft, but then again there are no gods either.
