a year ago i was bitter about catching my x cheating and a mutual friend of his held me till i slept one night and was so sweet.he told me a couple months later i was killing him,my ex was upset that we liked eachother so he backed off and kept his distance.Here i am a year later still thinking about him,so i called him last week and told him he was eating me alive,he said it was mutual and he thinks im beautiful,and he had no idea i felt that way,but he started dating someone a month ago and told me its only fair he tells me but then he continued to tell me again how beautiful i am so i was not understanding whether he likes me or not so i told him he had to tell me to let it go and give up(for respect towards the girlfriend)he said no and i told him he had to,he said he cant and again told me how beauitful i am.I am confused now as to whether he was letting me down easy or is confused himself as to what he wants?

It's not the ex you like, it's his mutual friend, correct? I think this guy likes you, but was honest about the fact he was seeing someone when you called. Just give him some time to figure out what he wants, if he does want to be with you, he will stop seeing this other woman and will call you. Don't keep calling him, he knows what you said, he hasn't forgotten. Let him do what is right, and that is finishing one relationship before trying to start another. If he chooses to stay in the relationship, then, move on it wasn't meant for you two.

Wow it's nice to know that i'm not the only one who has a guy giving me totally conflicting messages. Mine always txts and emails me all the time and has told me that he has very strong feelings for me but yet won't leave his fiance (only been together for 5 months and didn't tell me she was his fiance), so now i've just started giving it back and making sure that he is aware that i am going out on dates and that i'm not sitting back waiting for him anymore which is as hard as it is you need to do it otherwise it will send you nuts.

A friend of mine once told me that exes are exes for a reason. If things didn't work out the first time, don't rush into it again. Tread softly and see where things go, but don't do to her what he did to you.
