People say the Korean War is a loss when it's not because we kept North from taking over South.

People who lose are the ones taking lives, doesn't matter. When you can't come to terms and they only way that seems reasonable is fighting and killing then that's just dumb. Too many Americans putting in everyone's head that we are this great nation, if so, why is there terrorism here like violence, crime, racism? We are no different from Terrorist, Nazis, etc. We lost Americans in every war we fought, so how does that make us winners? People we fight against, we kill their innocent people, no winner there!

The Korean War was a police action, and technically is not over since a truce has never been signed.
As for the War of 1812 both the US and the British both consider it a victory, since Canada repulsed several invasion attempts, but the US won several major military engagements on land and at sea.

We didn't lose Vietnam. You have to play to win or lose. The U.S. left Vietnam, The Democratic congress banned supplying South Vietnam and South Vietnam fell a year after that.
The Korea civil war is ongoing. There is still shooting going on, but no where near the shooting in the '50s.
So no, the U.S. has not lost a war that it's military was involved with at the time.

The point is not whether won or lost, but were the objectives achieved?
We have still suceeded in keeping the norh from taking South Korea
As long as we were there, we kept the north from taking over South Vietnam. We didn't lose Vietnam, it was just a fight we no longer found worthy of our support for the price we were paying.
Did we win in the Balkins?
Did we win in Grenada?
Did we win in Somalia?
To say we win or lose a war is incredably simplistic thinking with regard to the use of military force.

The United States Of America "won" the War of 1812 at the Battle of New Orleans (Dec 23 1814 to Jan 8 1815. The only trouble was that the war was already lost. They had signed the Articles of Surrender or "The Treaty of Ghent at the end of 1814.

Indeed, the US lost in many wars. US may have high technology, but their tactics are not good enough. Think about it, how can the US lost to such a small country like Vietnam? In Iraq, the US is just putting soldiers into a machine randomly picking on soldiers to kill.

The Korean War was certainly not a U.S. victory.
If we haven't lost the war in Iraq, exactly what have we done?

we didnt lose in vietnam, we were pulled out by our president. much like today, lots of our citizens are wanting our soldiers to come home. yes we all do, but if we are forced to leave like we were in vietnam, just think how horrible things would be for them when they arent quite secure in their duties without us yet. to say we are losing in iraq is unfair. we are accomplishing much of what we went for and then some. if you want the real story of these wars........write to a marine. semper fi !!!!!!
