Careful with the "free" downloads, sometimes they're not valid and only more spyware or worse yet trojans. We had to fix my brothers computer after he got a "free" anti-spyware program after googling it. It gave him a little man in a wheelchair in green. Grr, took for ever to remove. Anyway that said try this place, it rules, I got it off www.smartcomputing.com

It has good downloads to detect and eliminate spyware/adware.

I'm doing that right now. There was an article in my local paper that gave legit sites to downlowad the free stuff. Here it is;

free.grisoft.com = AVG 7.5
www.filehippo.com= Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware SE Personal

Download and run all three of thsese scans. Then the paper said to go to;
www.trendmicro.com and run the free House-Call

AdAware is a frree pogram go to www.adawaredownload.com even the updates etc are frre .Naturally there are higher versions you can buy like PRO But have used the free Ad Aware and it does a fine job of protecting my computer.
