More information would have been nice.
But here goes. When you save a scanned image, it saves as
an image file and you can't do a whole lot with that.
You need a piece of software to be able to scan to you word
processor. Then you can work on the page as a document.
Here is where more info would have been helpful.
Operating system, word processor etc. with that info I could
have given you more specific software to use.

As the previous writer said, when you scan a document, you get an "image" of that document; in other words, a picture. You can't change the words on that picture as you would on a regular document. However, that being said, some printers and programs have the ability to use something called "OCR", which is short for Optical Character Recognition. Check you software to see if that's an option, and you might be able to save the document into an OCR'ed document that can then be edited. Good luck.

some cases once you have a printer and scanner in one, there's a conflict on the appliance, because of the fact your laptop will handle it as a printer yet no longer as a scanner, be advantageous which you install each and all of the appliance that comes along with your scanner-printer or do away with the two application and hardware, the reinstall them.

Scan ur letter as a document not as a pic or any thing else save this file as a text file or a document file.if u can't do that then You need an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program.Might be the OCR scanning button is avail on your scanner. scanning through this button will save ur data as a text file. OCR can solve ur problem............................. Gud Luck,.........

See if you have the option upon initial scan to open and scan w/ pic and text - not just pic
