As a former Golden breeder and owner for over 20 years I say why look for another breed when you already have Gold in your family. I now have 4 Golden's living with me in my home and I love every minute that they are with me.
Stick with the Golden's they tend to get along very well together.
P.S. the other breeds you have mentioned are wonderful breeds to own, but, they tend not to live to the age of a Golden 14 to 16 years. Golden's will totally bond with you and any other pet in the family. Nothing is worse than seeing a Golden grieve for a lost buddy. Please consider this when deciding.

Weimeraners are very energetic dogs and can be a pain if not trained. Great danes are lovely lazy dogs, who will get energetic when you do or be a couch potato when you are(i think its a throw back to the old hunting days when the only time the dog was noticed was when it was being hunted, and ignored when it wasnt.) Saint bernards are a little more time consuming than the others in the grooming department. And you already have a goldy so know what to expect.

Try your local Golden Rescue. I'd stick with one of the best. I have pitties and Goldens. BTW, probably best to get a dog that is 3 or over, and of the opposite gender to be a good companion. You really don't want to get another puppy and have the puppies reinforce each other for less desirable behaviors.

From what I've read online, you typically are supposed to wait about 3 years in between getting another dog. If they're both puppies, they'll bond together while you aren't home and will form their own "pack". I think it's harder to get them to listen, then, because they just want to do their own thing. Ask a trainer or even a vet about what they think. If they think you could get another, what about a lab? My lab puppy (almost a year old now) and my mom's golden (she's 9) absolutely LOVE each other.

I'd stay away from weims. Personally I think they're beautiful and sweet but they can be quite a handful...and stubborn. By then your golden will be fully trained and will be able to 'model' behavior for the other dog. I'd go with another golden - they'll get along great and are easy to train.

I agree, another golden or a lab.. if one golden fits into your family, likely another golden or a lab will fit in just as well. They will also be equal size for them to playfight and everything else. They're both typically get dogs.

Lab or another Golden. Both breeds are great with children.

It sounds like you have your stuff in order for a new pup may I be so bold as to say maby a German Shepherd. They are great dogs, they get along well with other dogs and children and are a joy to be around. I own 4 GSD dogs myself they are my lifelong passion and I would not have it any other way if you want more info on German SHepherds please feel free to contact me.

If you have a golden already, I'd stick with the idea of getting another one.
