coughing is not enough activity to burn a significant amount of calories. if you've lost weight while you were sick is was probably because you lost your appetite or you had a hard time keeping food down (vomiting or diarrhea). also, you may have lost a lot of water weight, this happens when you have vomiting, diarrhea, or from a fever. that's why it's so important to drink liquids while you're sick!

I don't think that coughing helps you burn calories at all I have never heard of it but when you are sick you can lose weight last year I got very very sick and I couldn't hold down any thing not even water the doctors had no clue what was wrong with me and I ended up losing about 10 pounds from being sick. I hoped this helped you but I wouldn't recomend getting sick to lose pounds I felt horibaly for weeks!

Obsessed with weight loss, are we? It's kind of desperate to consider bodily functions and illness as a source of possible weight loss. The only way to get rid of unwanted flab or excess weight is to eat healthy and excercise. There is NO magic pill or diet that will have the effect you are looking for. When scientists find the magic cure it will be ALL over the news on every station and for a very long time. Till then the hard way is the only way. Good luck. Try not to obsess, it isn't healthy.
