The reason hot water is not good is because of the effects it has on your scalp. It can make your scalp dry, flaky and itchy. Warm water is best to wash with as it opens your hair cuticle to allow it to be cleaned. As for how long you should wash? Whenever you feel your hair and scalp are clean. If your hair lathers easily, it is relatively clean. You may have to shampoo twice if your hair is harder to lather as this means your hair is dirty. If you use a lot of product in your hair, you may have to shampoo more than once. After rinsing well, apply conditioner. If you want, you can use cold water to rinse out the conditioner. Cold water closes the hair cuticle and adds shine.

your stylist was right cold is the best but since you don't want to freeze use lukewarm water. When shampooing your hair scrub your hair with the shampoo really hard for a minute. Then wash if off and use conditioner scrub again but leave it in your hair for more time cuz conditioner is something thats good for your hair.

Wash hair with warm water, and get it wet. just rub in shampoo, you don't need to time yourself, just rub it in so your hair is bubbly and rinse it out. Then apply conditioner, but not as much as shampoo, and rinse with more cool water. Have a nice, clean-hair day!
