It's the heat trying to escape from your body, but your pores aren't fully opening for it to sweat out. If i'm correct, you only get itchy at the point just before you fully break out into a sweat... but once you do, you don't itch, right? If that's the case, then this is the reason. Put a heater and a small humidifier in your bedroom. Warm up the temperature in your room when you sleep and make it humid. For a week or so it might hurt but once your pores open up from the humidity your problem will be solved forever. Try to keep warm after the problem goes away or it will come back.
Good luck!

It sounds like you may have a "physical allergy," which like any allergy has things that may cause it or set it off, and the symptoms of which run along a spectrum. As the name--and your history--suggest, physical exertion sets it off, but sometimes food plus exercise can lead to it more often than exercise alone. Do you tend to eat anything prior to your walks?
The symptoms run from the skin itching to trouble breathing, and even to feeling faint (which can be dangeorus). The itch occurs when special immune cells in your skin (mast cells) release histamine, which causes dilation of your capillaries, and your skin becomes flush, warm, and itchy. This is the same process when someone has food or seasonal allergies, and why we take anti-histamines or epinephrine to prevent those symptoms.
The sense of feeling faint occurs when a lot of blood is diverted into your smaller vessels from your greater vessels. This can drop your blood pressure significantly, and it can be dangerous, even for a young person.
So I would suggest stopping your physical activity and letting your doctor know about this, especially if the symptoms don't go away 5-10 minutes after you've stopped exercising. Most likely you will be okay to exercise as the severe symptoms are rare, but s/he may have some helpful suggestions and/or medicine to use if needed.

That's blood flowing to the capillary veins, or so I've heard.
