I have constantly tried to loose weight. I am considering lap band surgery but I know the effects for me will be too overwelming not being able the freedom to eat food when I want. I try to explain to people that it's like a drug habit. Ineed to know if there is anything out there on the market that might help me kick this habit I have.

eat slowly. don't do anything else while eating - concentrate on what you are doing, not the of this is yum but the actual act of eating. mentally think about picking it up and each step after. think about the food while you are chewing it... how is makes you feel, is it really what you want that sort of thing and then once you have swallowed think about how it is moving through your system. dont rush the next mouthful as when doing this each one will be different as you progress through your meal.

make it a total experience. use this practice with other simple things like making a cuppa.

of course the obvious exercise.. it doesnt have to be overwhelming. walk around the house, especially if you have a staircase ... do laps outside... pace yourself but push yourself at the same time. again think about what you are doing, how you walk, how the movement feels throughout the rest of your body etc

I wish you luck ... but it is You who must decide to change to be free of this addiction. As an addiction it needs to be brought to moderate use and you should use methods (that will suit yourself) used by any person who is addicted

Good Luck :D

I know just how you feel. Food is a drug. It's an addiction. But they're are things that can help. Have you tried diet supplements? Excercising? Even a brisk walk can help. I did the cabbage soup diet, it's a 7 day plan, that will kick start your weight loss, pretty fast. then you follow it up with a healthy diet. I found that if you just don't buy the junk food when you go shopping, you won't be tempted to eat it. Also watch out for eating when you're bored. I did that too!! Start a hobby, or some other outlet you can get into, when you are bored. That way you won't be tempted to hit the refridgerator! You can overcome this. It just takes time and dedication. It will be just as hard as a smoker, drug addict, or alcoholic, trying to quit. But it is possible, if you want it bad enough. Not just for looks, but it's not healthy being overweight. It causes lots of other health problems.
Much luck to you!

You have issues that go FAR beyond being overweight. I would STRONGLY recommend you get some counseling before going any further down this road.

You have a solution (lap-band), but you "won't" do it for these lame reasons? You can still EAT, for heaven's sake! But instead of eating SIX cheeseburgers, you'll only be able to eat one. The foods are no different, JUST the quantities.

There's NO magic pill. You have to reduce your calorie intake and increase your activity level. It's very basic and logical.

I had gastric bypass surgery 18 years ago, and it saved my life. I was 430 lbs at the time of my surgery... today I weigh 200 and I have been at 200 for the last 10 years (give or take 10 pounds).

STOP making excuses and live for LIFE - NOT for food. It's JUST food.

only eat when your physically hungry, it's hard at times but unless your body is telling you to eat don't. Only eat until you are full not until everything on your plate is gone. See a nutritionist they can tell you what gives you all the vitamins you need without all the bad stuff so you'll get full without eating a ton of food. at the very least drink flavored water or something along those lines instead of pop, that right there can help you lose upto 15 pounds in about a month
