UTI's in rare, but not unheard of in boys. I would talk to your pediatrician if you have concerns about that. Has he been complaining of pain while urinating? Does he have a fever?
I have two boys, 3 and 5, and both are potty trained. My older son has gone through times where he has had several accidents in a short period. In retrospect, they were times when he was going through stress or change. But it never hurts to talk to the doctor about it if it continues, especially if he exhibits symptoms like fever and pain while urinating.
Good luck to you!

You would know if it was a UTI by the screaming. Chances are this is just a regression and shouldn't last long. A lot of children go through it (including my daughter and my son). The important thing to remember is to not make a big deal about it, that only serves to frustrate him. You may also want to try taking him to the toilet frequently to try to prevent the accidents from happening at all. Also, is there anything happening in his life that could cause him to attention-seek? New baby, Mom goes back to work, separation etc? That's another common cause of this problem.

My daughter is 3 yrs old and potty trained (sleeps thru night with dry bed and undies), but when she is watching a cartoon or caught up playing, she doesn't always think of telling someone she has to go. She simply goes where she is standing. It happens. I doubt there is anything wrong with your son. They can do really good for a great length of time, then start having some drawbacks. But if you are truly concerned, then take his to see his pediatrician.

My son did this just a few weeks ago.. he was in school and would go into the bathroom with the boys to play in the water and what not... Finally after a week I called the teacher and asked her to make him go into a stall...
It also could be a UTI or is he doing it when he is involved in heavy play or really involved in something?? Alot of kids get to involved and ignore there body signals..

I would say you could be right about it being a UTI. Other than that I would ask if anything has changed in the home or daycare, that would traumatically effect him emotionally. Sometimes that triggers it too.

if your child is sleeping and doing it, it could be that he is dreaming and thinks he got up and went to the bathroom. When I was young I use to do that. until I reallize that it was just a dream that I was having that I walked to the bathroom.
