You don't say why the hair is gone, but here is what I know.
One if it got cut/shaved, it does take awhile for it to grow back, but it will.
If your cat's hair was matted and now has bald patches, it too will grow back. Severe matting will essentially pull out the hair. If this is the case, try to be better about combing, or take it to the groomers.
If the hair has fallen out and you do not know why, you should visit your vet. I have seen animal loose their hair for a number of reasons. Cats are prone to ring worm. This is contagious to humans and other animals. They can also lose hair due to parasites. Not just external parasites either, intestinal parasites will rob your cat of nutrients resulting in poor coat and eventual hair loss. Your vet can help you with any of these and the cost of treatment is rather inexpenssive. Please remember if you think your cat has external parasites, NEVER us dog parasite control on them, get the cat stuff....Dog products will kill your cat.
Poor diet can cause a poor coat, though unless your cat has allergies, I have never heard of it causing it to fall out. If it is allergies (also diagnosed by your vet) a change in food will be recommended.
Finally, if your cat had a major accident/burn, it may have major scarring and the hair will not grow back.
Good luck, hope that helps!

what happened? Did your cat have an injury? A surgury where they had to shave its hair? A bad haircut? Either way, it will most likely grow back on its own there is nothing you can do but give it good food that is high in nutrients to help their coat. But you really cant MAKE it grow back.

Give him a raw egg scrambled lightly by itself or mixed with his food. That will help.

Wait. It is not something you plant. This is sort of obvious.
