Well now...I live in South Carolina and have for over 31 years and I have never heard of such. A Coke is a Coke and a Pepsi is a Pepsi. A person who calls a Pepsi a Coke is ignorant, not southern. As for who calls it "pop" I am not quite sure why northerners call it that. My sister-in-law who is from Michigan asked my daughter if she wanted a pop and my daughter started to cry. She thought she was in trouble. Now see? Why call it pop? Call it what it is...A SODA!!!!! Now thank ya'll for yer time.

Here in South Texas we call it soda. My friend in South Michigan calls it pop.

When I lived in California before moving to the midwest, me and me mates and family all called soda "Coke." Then, you specified what you wanted.

In the South, every carbonated beverage is a Coke. Sprite, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, etc. It's all Coke.
