From your question, it sounds like you are afraid of the..."Powers of Darkness". I think it is you who is afraid. You are afraid of those who "fear the light and embrace the Darkness". Nothing perpetuates fear more than religion as you wouldn't need religion if you weren't afraid. Religion's main job is to keep you believing in Darkness and to make you afraid of it. If you aren't afraid of darkness, then the darkness ceases to exist. Darkness can only exist where there is fear.
What if I tell you that there is no such thing as Powers of Darkness? It is all superstition and fear. There are no such things as "curses" but only personal behavior that makes terrifying experiences for itself. There are no monsters under your bed or in your closet and if there really is a spider in your bed, you can brush him off and step on it if you choose. There are no monsters you can not control if you remain logical and rational. PERIOD.

I wonder if there is even any teological answer to this question.As for fear, or the fear factor, people fear darkness more than light.In philosophy, u'll get an answer from thefamous Plato's parable of the cave.AS for `powers of darkness', you are just being superstitious.In the dark, it is difficult to apprehend nocturnal creatures. That's why they are the predators of the night.Darkness is equivalent to lack of sight whereas light is full of sight.But for the predators of the night, their eyes can see through the darkness. Human cannot and therefore they need external means. Moreover, these are modern times. There is no escape from electricity. Do you belong to the pre-electrical era?

I don't fear the light or the dark. I find it's easier to get around and do things in the light, and easier to get a good night's sleep in the dark. Both are essential to living a good life.
