He ate the lead, but I'm not sure if it really is lead. My dad says it's just graphite. But I'm not sure. I don't want him to be poisoned! Could you please help?

Oh yeah, and I spelled it wrong. It's supposed to be: Schnoodle. And if you were wondering, a Schoodle is a Schnauzer mixed with a Poodle.

Ok. I keep on spelling it wrong! If you're getting confused, this is how you spell it: Schnoodle.

If it is a normal pencil then it is graphite and not poisonous.

Check the dogs mouth to make sure it doesn't have any splinters. Keep a close eye on it for changes in eating or going to the bathroom. Watch the stools and make sure there is no blood. (not worried about it being toxic, but sharp and might cause problems if the pup swallow a large chunk) Dog will probably be just fine, just keep an eye on it for a few days.

Time to puppy proof the house, keep everything out of the pups reach that it can't chew on. Be very careful with electric cords, tuck them behind tables and away from where the dog can get them. Give the pup lots of chew toys it can chew on.

If stealing and chewing pencils killed dogs mine would have been dead long ago. Throughout my life ours dogs have gotten ahold of pencils dropped on the floor. And yes, they ate some of them too. Maybe, its killed other dogs, I can't say for sure. But I have never read anything about this in all the dog books I own or all the magazines and articles I've read. The best thing to do is call the vet. Isn't there an emergency number you can call to ask? Watch him and see if he vomits and/or acts like his tummy is hurting. I think he'll be fine, though.

These days, pencils aren't made out of lead, most of them are made out of graphite.Pencils like these have graphite, not lead:

Dixon (any kind,Ticonderoga,Oriole,etc)
Staples Brand
Bic Brand
Most generic pencils

Some drawing pencils still have lead though. If your worried or he's looks sick, take him to your local vet or animal doctor and take the pencil, too, just in case.

The next time something of this nature occurs, you need to contact your vet immediately. You also could have checked the pencil manufacturer to see if they had any info on what they use in their own product. I see that this was posted a week ago, so hopefully your baby is doing ok. Poison control centers could also answer these questions for you. Please don't ignore these things, certain household items that we think are fine are potentially fatal to our pets. Certain plants are poisonous as well. My friend found out the hard way that Lilies are fatal to cats.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/nuwH0

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Your Dad is right, they stopped putting lead in pencil along time ago. Did you call the Vet? Have you checked her stool for pencil particles? Is the dog eating and pooping these are thins you should be looking for!

There is no lead in the pencil "lead". Don't worry. My little chihuahua/jack russel terrier eats my art pencils all the time. It's annoying, but she is still alive. So your's should live, don't see why it wouldn't.
