Start with 1 hr = 60 minutes. Then
400 min * 1 hr/60 min = 400/60 hr = 6.66666 hr.

See how 1 = 1hr/60minutes? It's also 60min/1hr. You just have to remember that the units you already have go on the bottom and the units you want go on the top.

Now.... *You* look up the rest of the conversions and do them just exactly the same way.

The method I use I learned back in 9th grade physics and I use it today (I'm a Sr. Development Engineer for Corning Inc.).

First off you need to think of what sort of conversion your doing. Let's use a problem similar to problem a. 36 hours to seconds.

Think of how many seconds are in one minute (60 sec = 1 min).
How many minutes are in one hour (60 min = 1 hour).

So if we want to convert 36 hours to min. we need to multiply the number of minutes that are in one hour to how many hours there are. (36 hours x (60 min / 1 hour)) Don't forget units!!! Make sure your units cancel out too!

Now that we have the number of minutes we need to find the number of seconds. Multiply the number of minutes we got by how many seconds are in one minute and you will find the answer.

36 hours x (60 min / 1 hour) x (60 sec / 1 min) = 129600 sec.

Hope this helps you.
