Go to an island, the Yasawas and neighboring are the easiest. On the mainland, the Beachhouse is a lot of fun and very chill and affordable. There are village stays, hiking in the jungle and some of the best scuba diving in the world. Fairly cheap to get certified if you've never dived before, I did it there. An hour north of Nadi there's also a natural hot springs and hot muds. A lot of fun!

I have been to Fiji a few times, and my advise to you is to hire a small car to get around. The driving is easy, very cheap and you will be able to see lots. Base yourself at one location and go for drives each day in a different direction, for perhaps 3 or 4 days maximum. Hire one when you get to Fiji. Don't plan to visit major towns when the cruise ships are in, as the cost of everything skyrockets. If you dont want to drive, taxis are Ok and the islanders will take you around by taxi for approx $50 for 4 or 5 hours...but they only take you to touristy spots like resorts etc. You will love Fiji, and want to return the following year.

There is very little to do in Fiji about from sit on the beach and drink cocktails! It's a holiday island.
There's also lots of water sports, scuba diving. Same as any holiday island.
