She has her heart set on this name I think, but she asked me If I liked it or not. I lied and told her it was cute. But I really don't like it. I know it has nothing to do if I like it or not. Is this something that should be a little white lie so I don't hurt her feelings? The name is Mason, and all I think about when I hear that name is mason jars!

LOL Mason is my last name (maiden name) and everyone thinks I should name my son Mason, when i have one. I think it's a cute name, but too many girls in my family have done it so it's just not meaningful anymore. I think you should be honest with your friend but not rude. At this point, since you've already told her it was cute, it would be kinda hurtful and weird for you to just call her up out of the blue and say, "Oh, I lied, I don't like your kid's name." But the next time she brings it up, you could just tell her the mason jars thing, without saying you hate it. That way it wouldn't hurt her feelings but you could be honest and get your feelings off your chest.

You already told her you think it's cute, just leave it at that. No reason to go tell her that you lied and that you don't really like it. It was more of a polite white lie than anything else.

Well it is her son, My cousins name is Mason and I think that it suits him well. It is becoming a popular name. But if you want to tell a pregnant woman that you don't agree with her, then by all means, I will come to your funeral.LOL just kidding, if you two are truthful about things and you are close, then tell her, gently.
Good luck

If she asked for your opinion then she wanted YOUR opinion.
The same thing happened to me and I told my friend I hated the name- Winston. Everyone else she asked hated it also. Still when her baby was born she named him Winston as that was the name SHE liked.
It really doesnt matter what your opinion is as its hers that actually matters. But sometimes its nice to get honest and reliable opinions from friends. Whether you like the name or not.
Remember honesty is the best policy.

I think you should politely let her know that it's not a name you would have picked yourself, but if she really likes it and has her heart set on it, then it's her decision and she should go with it and you'll support her decision like a friend should.

It's best to be honest. Tell her the truth, but also say that it's her decision in the end. Also, tell her to make sure that's what she really wants to name her child as it will be their name for life.

Don't tell her you don't like because if she does name the baby Mason. She will always know you didn't like it ans she may resent it

I personally really like that name, but I see what you're talking about. I'd tell her, but be nice about it.
