Thru the years I have come to the conclusion that those who use profanity simply have nothing intelligent to say!

I do not swear, I know enough superlative adjectives and adverbs to manage with out swear words. I am not offended by others swearing, but I do dislike four letter words being used. Too many films and television programs allow this sort of swearing and it is not necessary. It sends out the wrong messages to children and young people and gives them the idea that it is an acceptable thing to do, when it is not.

Swearing....hmmmm. Probably one of the biggest breaches of etiquette, outside of picking your nose in public. However, it is becoming more apparently socially acceptable, television and the like.
This may not be the most polite answer but here goes, my general thought on this is if you are going to swear then do it properly. I have known people that just say the f-word as a filler word in conversation, this is NOT a filler word it is to be used for emphasis i.e. to get your point across, anger, excitement, amazement, or fright. This applies to all swears to be used appropriately and only in front of familiar people, never in public and NEVER in front of children.
Since washing a child's mouth out with soap is not done these days for swearing I guess we must all learn to hear it once in awhile.... (sigh). Although I defiantly would say I object to it.

if i am so tired i could fall down dead, that is the time that i tend to swear. however, that is rare.
i am older than most members here, so maybe my outlook is old fashioned, but i think it's fine.
my mother was a true lady. all she ever wanted were her children. i was the only girl, and i was first born, so i guess i got the best of the best from my parents. my father opened his own successful company and mostly was out of the house working, but he made sure that we had everything we needed, and too, he emphasized to the lady that he married that she was to teach me to be a lady.
i wasn't raised in a household or neighborhood where swearing was a daily event, or even monthly event. it was rare to hear swearing and we thought that it was bad language that people with no consideration for others used, and this was in chicago!
i just don't have the habit of using swear words and terms, or even losing my temper, if i am irritated about something or about how someone is acting towards me.
life is easy for me because i do not swear. i like giving anyone that i talk to the respect due them as simple human beings that have qualities and have defects, just like me. who am i to call them dirty names when i can say what i want in a simple, direct sentence? i don't know, it just doesn't come easily to me to swear.
my secretary, who is about my age and who didn't grow up in a good neighborhood, but one that was very tough, often listens in to my talks with technical support reps because i run my own network. she says she could never take their BS and would blow her mind at them if she were me. because, there are reps out there that think that they can talk me into believing all sorts of ridiculous things, but i know better. now, i could get all bent out of shape and start to swear at them, but why? it never gets anywhere because you are showing great disrespect to the other if you swear at him. you may as well just talk.
this is my outlook: why make my life any more difficult than it is by getting other people angry because i do not recognize them as human beings and treat them like dirt, like they are below me?

I personally really don't care at all. I do it at home a lot when I'm at the computer but not around other people because I know many other people dislike it. I don't have a problem not swearing either, but it's just words, if I'm sitting here alone and the page doesn't load it just feels good to say 'f*' or 'sh*'. My cats don't mind :)

I am 50 years old and rarely heard my mother swear, once in a while if she would say dammit, i knew i was in for a spanking or something! However, now days, i hear younger people out in public ( and find myself doing it too) dropping the f-bomb in my sentences. I think that swearing has become so much of the norm now that we are desensitized to it.

My mom always said sticks and stones can break your bones, but words will never hurt me.
But I would not swear infront of little kids or when I am trying to make a good impression. Only because of society's views on it.

I can only look after my own language. No, I don't like cursing for many reasons but I have learned to live with it because it will never go away.

the bible says to not swear but if your talking about cussing i think that it in itself is gray. i mean, cuss words often have very strong meanings like "wishing hell upon someone" or something else!
also it has a reputation getting you addicted to it and addictions are frowned upon in the bible
