In July, I plan on flying from LAX to Las Vegas, one-way. I will not be taking any luggage. Can I take a laptop on board? What about a cell phone?

Sure. Cell fone has to be shut down any time the plane is moving (actually as soon as they shut the door), and laptop can't be used during takeoff and landing maneouvers. The stewardess will tell you when it's ok to use. Size has nothing to do with it... just remember that the larger a laptop is, the harder it is to drag around.

Yes, you can take both on. Cell phone cannot be turned on during the flight. Will have to take the laptop out of your bag when going through security.

Take both. But call the airline to see if the laptop counts as a carry-on. If it does you will not be able to carry that and a briefcase or purse.
