"Changing life as it goes" has nothing to do with the doctrine of predestination, although the ability to seek out God does affect how this is viewed, i.e. make any decision you want, if it doesn't merit you a trip to Heaven, how can it make any difference at all whether God knows what will happen? He saves some, He leaves others in their sins. So in a sense, if you believe in predestination, then you can believe in both.

Both predestination and choice are happening at the same time.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (NIV)
I believe we are predestined in Christ - regarding His will for our lives; However, depending on decisions we make; We can either stay on course or take a detour.
What God intended for us, isn't always what we intend for us. (Sometimes, we're stubborn, disobedient, etc...)
However, if you're meant to get killed in a car accident, a fire isn't going to take you out! lol... He has our days planned.

to truly have freedom is to give up that freedom. humans are predestined to live the continuation of their natural evolution. parts such as committing suicide or not, eating this or eating that, figuring out man's cosmic role while on the toilet or on top of a cliff, are entirely up to you.

Both are happening at the same time. We still have free will and we choose how we react in certain situations which ultimately determines if we are reincarnated or not.

I believe we are all predestoned to do a work for Christ but i still believe we have to make the choice to do so, but he already knows who is going to.
