Balance of demand and supply is the reason.
Please follow the following change in ur life style:
1. Eat only when hungry.
2. No more than three meals a day with nothing except water in between. The only exception being if u r diabetic.
3. Eat each morsel of food at least 32 times so that brain gets information from stomach and generates a signal that u have had enough.
4, Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly.
U will loose/gain gracefully to the desirable weight.

white rice is low calorie, white bread has only about 70 cal per serving. try adding things like peanut butter, butter, cheese etc. adding meat will also help. if you are a vegetarian, use foods like nuts and soy to replace meats. make sure you are eating snacks between meals. choose foods that are high calorie but not so bad for you. ex: smoothie made with 2% milk instead of french fries. both give you calories but the smoothie has 'better' ones to offer. if you increase your calories to 3500 per week you should gain a pound a week b/c 3500 cal=1 lb

I am currently using the "Rice Diet" to lose weight and it is working pretty well. If you are eating simple starches I don't think you will gain anything. But you don't want to be unhealthy and eat fatty or sodium laden foods either. Try lots and lots of protein with 1%-2% dairy products.

actually eating just carbs wont cause you to gain weight, your body can only covert excess carbs into something like 3-5 grams of fat per 24 hours. but your body can absorb about as much fat as you eat. so if you have a very low fat/high carb diet, you wont gain weight unless you add some more fats (polyunsaturated and monounsaturated are the best fats, theyre found in nuts, fish, and olive oil) to your diet. you should have some protein in your diet as well, especially if youre trying to gain weight for sports. contrary to what all the fad diets say, high carb diets alone arent fattening- high carb high fat diets are the culprit for many americans being overweight
and some people like me and maybe you too just dont gain weight easily, ive been trying to gain weight, im 6'1 and hover and cant seem to break 175lbs no matter how hard i try

I'm guessing you may have fast metabolism. Well rice is not such a high calorie food, try eating foods that have a bit more calories, BUT don't push like watch the cholesterol, sugar and all that, you don't want a heart attack when your older just because you tired to gain weight! good luck!

Weight training helps a person build muscles and increase body weight. If you are a very active person, you should learn to relax, which will slow down your metabolic rate. Increasing the number of hours you sleep will also help you to gain weight.. Also increase your water intake. More information is available at http://www.toloseweight.org/gainweight.html

Yes, you have a fast metabolism, faster than most people, and that is good. But look to gaining weight in a healthy way.
Try eating more lean meats, and bulk up on more proteins.

It sounds like you're trying to gain weight to get fat. Don't do that. Do it efficiently, you need to eat healthy, a real lot of healthy food and lift weights!
