Earlier in a question, a christian stated that the US is sliding away from discipline and structure, much as the Roman Empire did and that we are headed for a fall...like the Roman Empire.

In my opinion, I would say that it was after the Roman Empire became a christian nation it fell, much as the US is doing and that we are indeed headed for a fall. Christianity breeds hostility, rebellion and segregation that causes division and internal fighting. I'm no history expert though, but I can't help but see that history is about to repeat its self yet again.

Your thoughts and info please?

since no one is actually answering your question....only talking out of their butts and wishing you hadn't said what you said...I'll take a stab at it....the roman empire was indeed failing due to internal warring among the xians and pagans...the pagan emperor Constantine made xianity the religion of the state as it was a religion the pagans could easily adapt to...in a vain effort to stop the outbreak of violence.....the empire still fell and yes much in part to the rise of xianity causing strife.....history will repeat itsself as any nation that becomes totalitarian will fall due to rebellion of the ppl and nothing can survive internal warfare for long....i totally agree that xianity causes anger, hate and hostility...but what else is an insecure religion to do? good question....too bad it was lost on the sheep....

It takes a whole book to describe why the Roman Empire collapsed. I have read every book on the subject in two very large libraries. Religion had ever little if any effect on the fall.
Without going into a long history lesson, let me say that if Christianity did not occur at that time, the collapse would have taken place just the same.
As for Christianity causing divisions, I won't argue one way or the other, but there were really big religious divisions at the time of Christ. Many Romans were taking up the worship of the Egyptian Goddess Isis. Even more were worshipping the Sun God Mithras. Zoroastrianism was taking hold rapidly.
Events here in the US, or any other country, have no relationship to the break-up of the Roman Empire. That is not to say that this, or any other country won't collapse, but if any does it will be for reasons entirelly different from those of Rome.

The reason why the Roman Empire fall is due to imbalance in the distribution of wealth. Few wealthy family over a million starving poor. Lowly roman soldiers has no reason to fight protecting the few rich family. Almiost all civilization that fall is due to economic imbalance, it is when food is deniad over a starving poor, strife begins.
The Roman rise as a republic with equality among its citizen, when if fall is a tyrannical Empire, slaving millions of people.

I don't think so America has just recently established itself as the greatest Nation on Earth. It has a long way to go. The Roman empire was in decline when it failed. Just as a much greater nation which recently fell was. The fall of the Soviet Union. Have more faith in your country. Of course I don't know maybe it isn't your country.

Chtristianity in the U.S. is being attacked in every way, shape, form, and manner by the increasinly influential radical left. So if you ask me evil and hatred is increasing not vice versa, Havn't you heard. There's a bill in Congress that would make it illegal to preach against homosexuality. They want to arrest Pastors in thier own pulpits. The Roman Empire was not Christian in any sense of the word. They were pagan and corrupt to the core and that's why they fell.

At the time of the fall of the Roman Empire, barbarians were ruling the roost and economic and social factors contributed to its demise. People were becoming less religious not more.

strongly disagree. Do you not realize that it's when one country is full of christian believers and the gospel has been spread there, that's when the country is powerful? when england/ great britain had just received christianity, they became world power. Same as america. Next will be china... mark my words.

first of all, the us we did not become a christian nation, the U.S was born one, and our slide away is not because we are christian, but because christianity is being eradicated from all facets of our society by the freethinking, bleeding heart, anything goes liberal leftist agenda.
