Great vehicle. It's the best selling mid-size SUV on the market for the past 15+ years.

I've had 4 of them myself and loved them as an every day vehicle.

They can come loaded to the gills, leather, GPS Navigation, Sirius radio, 18" wheels, V8, tow package, AWD. Great in the weather, great for hauling people and cargo.

I would also recommend looking at the Ford Edge if you're looking for something a little better on fuel.

Jeeps are wanabe junk boxes ! Better gas mileage? I bet they have never had a ford. Explorers are awesome. I had a 94 explorer with 200,000 miles, a 4 liter v6, and it still had the new factory oil pressure.

If you want a true multipurpose vehicle buy a Jeep Cherokee, or Jeep Grand Cherokee. Jeeps get better gas mileage, and are more stable than the explorers ever have been.
