Unless you dump a bunch of sugar in it, green tea has no calories. So yes, it can help you lose weight... but only if you are replacing drinks with a lot of calories with the tea. If you start drinking green tea, but replace the calories with something else, it won't help. Drinking green tea in itself is not going to make you lose weight, but anytime you can replace something with a lot of calories (like soda, for example) with something that has none, it is a step in the right direction. Ultimately, the best way to lose weight is to eat right and get a lot of exericise. Drinking green tea regularly can be a part of this mix.
And you don't have to write "best answer gets 10 points." We all know how this thing works. ;-)
Good luck!

Green tea contains a large variety of vitamins, minerals, and other compound substances. Research indicates it can prevent cancer, heart attack, and it can help you to lose weight. however, you must drink large amount of it daily. In theory, perhaps you must drink tens of tons a day for it to take effect. We are not elephants, as a result, green tea is not considered a medicine at all. Daily exercise and low fat diet is a much better way to lose weight. :)

Green tea helps in the burning of calories as it fastens your metabolism. If you swap from coffee and normal tea to green tea you will loose about 1 kg a week. I stopped drinking coffee and normal tea and it really worked. It fastened my metabloism and i felt much healthier after a week. And i also lost between /5-1 kg a week.
hope that answers your question :)

Green tea has EGCG, and that will help speed up metabolism. But the most EGCG is found in green tea capsules because it's so concentrated. So that would work better in my opinion.

Yes green tea helps in losing weight but it has NOTHING to do with caffeine (it's NOT brewed!!!).

First I'll start with this. The different teas have to do with the way they are processed. White tea are harvested before they are fully openned and the buds are covered in white fuzz, and has a sweeter and milder flavor than green tea. Green tea leaves are steamed to inactivate their fermtive enzymes, then rolled and dried. Black tea leaves have their moisture extracted in a process called withering, then are left to ferment, then oven dried. Oolong tea are partially fermented and blackened. Both black and green tea have simular attributes as: bacterial and viral, cancer, coronary heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, and other chronic debilitating diseases.
Theamine in tea may reduce stress.
Now to answer your question, Oolong tea improves metabolic rate and fat oxidation. However green tea is very close second to Oolong. Green tea has also shown to releive aches and pains of arthritice. Also the caffeine in any tea gives energy of which burn caleries as well. Caffeine contents are as follows: white-15 mg, green-20 mg, black-40 mg, Oolong-30 mg.

green tea contains anti oxidants which help rid the body of toxins, but as for as loosing weight, it can aid in loosing weight, but not alone can it make you lose weight. you would need to eat a proper diet along with green tea to achieve weight loss.

tea has caffiene, which is a metabolism stimulant. you could technically say that about coffee, but tea has less additives so it's healthier. Black tea has the most caffiene so perhaps it would help someone lose more weight than green tea (and even less so white tea)
