No, it's not true.
My dad dropped a cat from his roof once, and killed it.
I believe that if you try this, someone should immediately go and drop YOU from a balcony 8 times to see if you land on your feet.
If you do, good luck...you must have 9 lives. If not, then oh well...you're just another idiot.

It is a myth cats have 9 lives. If you drop him, it depends on the height. He could suffer a minor jaw or leg fracture, he could suffer organ rupsure, he might get knocked out, or you could end up killing him. It would be a very stupid idea to drop him.
