If they people are telling you that they have a hard stomach to do that they are most likely not doctors...I think it would be best to ask doctors I am sure that there was a doctor in your position that learned how to deal with surgery.. If this is something that you really feel that you want to do then you will find a way. Good luck. cb

I have shadowed doctors at the ER and other places and find that experience is the best way. The more you see it the more your body desensitizes to it. I was worried about how I would take it in person b/c I watched shows like Trauma life in the ER and that didn't bother me, but in person I figured it would be different and it was but it still wasn't that bad and now when I shadow doctors it just seems natural.

The only answer I have is:You'll find out when you have to take things apart in Anatomy class. By the time you finish Med school you will have an idea if surgery is for you or if you'd rather find cures in a lab. Either is needed. Good luck!

The more you're around it, the easier it gets.
I'm a nurse...been there.
You might volunteer at a hospital, see if you can help in the ER.
You can do it.

By the time you get through medical school, you'll have seen so much blood and guts and poop and vomit that nothing will bother you. Trust me.
