whats his deal?

I thought that he really liked me but i guess not because he told some friends that there was nothing going on between us. I was actually ok with it. later i asked if he wanted to get some drinks and talk he said sure. so we go to the bar and these guys are hitting on me and he seem to get upset about it tellin them to back off saying that i was his sister and whatnot. and he didnt like that they were hitting on me, so he comes and sits real close to me and puts his arm around me so they would back off. what is his deal ? why is he getting jelous if he is not interested in me?
