Do you think a regular single bed is best or should I get a special toddler bed? Does it make a difference?

I put my 2 year old in a single bed with Tomy side on one side and the other pushed up to the wall, he loved it to because we bought him a bob the builder duvet a postman pat duvet and a thomas the tank engine duvet, we had no problems with him sleeping he loved the fact he was a big boy in a big bed like mummy and daddy, he is now 3 and a half and i havent had one sleepless night with him. so i would say single bed with duvet cover of the childs choice.

I really don't think it makes a difference. My daughters crib turned into a toddler bed and a full bed and she slept in the toddler bed for a short time. Then we moved it to a full size bed because she didn't have enough room. I would really consider going on to a single bed just to save on money and to go ahead and have the transition out of the way. Good Luck!!

Don't waste your money on a toddler bed--you will just have to go buy a regular bed next year anyhow! All my kids moved from crib to single bed with railings attached at about the age of two.

some pushy mothers put their kids into regular beds but never admit the child is always falling out. I have babysat many children and I was a professional nanny, also I've had 4 of my own. I have seen a lot. I would say buy a toddler bed. This is no time to be cheap, make sure your child's bed is appropriate age wise.

We went right from a crib to a regular single bed and put rails on the sides - I think toddler beds are a waste of money.

a normal single bed is the best just put them upi against a wall a get a rail for the other side that way when old enough you will not have to by another bed just remove the rail andthe bed will last longer than the special toddler bed

Gosh you've left it late for a first bed!!!!!!!!!!! My eldest was 15 months when i moved her to a bed and my youngest is now 12 months and i'm considering when to get her one!

At 2.5 yrs i would just go for a regular single bed - mine is in a toddler bed but only because i got her it at 15 months.

Regular beds can be a little high for toddlers. A guard rail will lessen fear of them falling. A toddler bed uses the crib mattress so there is lower cost and since it is the same size less transition. i found our toddler bed on eBay for about $30.

I don't think it makes much of a difference. I'd go with the single bed unless there are special reasons like the room is too small.

We just put our 2.5 year old in a twin bed and it has gone great! And I'm thrilled that we won't have to del with getting her a new bed ever again.

my son had a crib till he was one a toddler bed till he was 2 and a twin bed after that. I put guards on the sides and a stool at the foot of the bed so he could get in and out. My sons center of gravity was and still is his head but he seemed to do fine with that. He gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom now at age 4 and I haven't heard him get hurt once. :)
