Yesterday I bought a 8 week old Chihuahua and he was very happy and running around at the breeders house. We did have a busy day yesteday and probably didn't get home till late. He has been very lethargic and not moving around since and just wants to sleep. I let him sleep in the bed last night and whenever he woke up I brought him to the piddle pad and he did great but today he peed twice laying down with no warning that he had to go. He has eaten and had plenty to drink but every so often he seems to throw up alittle bit, I am feeding him the food the breeder gave me. I just gave him alittle this morning as I thought he would be quite streesed out. He doesn't seem to be in any pain but just wants to sleep, I do wake him up every half hour or so hoping he will want to play but he just lays back down to rest.
I will be calling the vet tomorrow but was hoping to hear back for some suggestions. Thanks so much

Yesterday he was held ALOT and we traveled over 2 hours in a car.
He has been drinking quite alot and had a good amount for breakfast.

Give him a day or two, long car ride, taken away from mum and usual surroundings, scared,. He will be ok.

Breeds such as yours are prone to blood sugar drops if they don't eat frequently.

Try giving your pup a little dark Karo syrup. Not alot, maybe a 1/2 tsp of it. That will help bring his blood sugar back up if its low, if that doesn't help I'd take him to the vet no later than tomorrow morning, or if more symptoms appear yet tonight.

Make sure you are feeding him several small meals throughout the day to help keep his blood sugar stable.

Get him to the vet.

Has he had his shots yet? This could be early stage Distemper or Parvo...both are common in puppies.

I'm so sorry ... I hope the little baby makes it...

Remember, even if it doesn't sound serious, it is far worse in small dogs than in large. They can dehydrate very fast, and can die at the drop of a hat. Blood sugar in chihuahuas commonly drops and kills them, so making certain it is drinking is imperative.

Good luck...snuggles to your baby!

sounds like your chi is suffering from low blood sugar and you have to do something soon like getting some sugar in that dog in the way of nutri cal ,honey ,karo syrup, something with sugar in it . you had better do it soon cause they can die from this .

it is verrrrryyyyyyy crutial that they dont skip a meal...they could die if they do....put him in a confined area like a crate!!! it is verrrry important that puppys get their sleep w/o being woken up..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.they are just like babies...im getting a puppy tomorrow but i think a crate would be the best thing to do.....
