So, I have a male kitten, about 7 months old. He is extremely noisy, meowing at everything as he walks around the apartment. Of course he likes to explore, but it is extremely disruptive when he yowls all of the time. He is neutered, is well fed, always has the attention of myself or my girlfriend whenever he wants it... so these things are not an issue. It seems that he is looking for something and crying about it, but then out of no where he stops crying and doesn't do it again for an hour or so.
So again, please don't say that he is lonely/in pain/hungry .. those aren't the case. If anyone has had any experience with a randomly yowling cat please let me know how you stopped the problem!
Thanks

-We can't get another cat, we live in an apartment and can only have one. maybe in the future, but not for the next few years.

-To the people that said that their cats are just naturally noisy, is there ANYTHING at all that works (we've tried ignoring him/telling him to be quiet/making 'shush'ing noises/etc). he is extremely loud, especially at night! we love him though and would never give him away, we just don't like the bursts of this behavior.

He may want to go outside, but if you just got him or if your home is in a busy neighborhood I wouldn't let him go outside. Also some cats are just really talkative, you may not be able to prevent his meowing, but he might outgrow it.

Some cats are naturally vocal. Mine meows a couple times an hour, and ive been told that he meows consantly when im not there. He gets sooo much attention,so like you, i know he gets enough attention. My bro's cat, on the other hand, is soo quiet. He only meows when he is stuck in a room or something. weird, huh?

My cat is a very vocal cat, he meows all the time. He meows for no reason. I think he does it just to irritate me, my son thinks it is funny I tell the cat to shut up all the time and he just keeps meowing right after I say it. Some cats are just more vocal and think that they should be, he never used to be it is something he has done in his later years, old age!

hahahaha I'm laughing at yo m because my cat is the exact same way, we have little conversations - she meows almost constantly. Shhing the cat and telling him to hush will not work, they don't understand human talk. To be honest with you, the only thing I read that works is ignoring him and rewarding him when she's silent but I haven't tried this myself, I actually think my kitty's incessant meowing is adorable. Good luck.

My male cat used to yowl a lot too. I used to just let him yowl because no matter what attention I gave him he still did it. He was just very talkative. Just let him talk he'll get tired sometime and quit.

hello. i know how you feel...i had a female that was like that. she was by baby but i hated the vocal spells she would go through. at one point i started to meow back at her...you know...see is she would think my meowing was annoying, it ended up being funny because she would respond every time!! after a while she would meow and i would respond and she would maybe meow at me a few more times but then stop. its weird sometimes when you have people over and she starts meowing away and you are responding...lol just meow back at him!!play his game....thats how i saw it ...sorta like a game. good luck with that kitten!!!:)

Aww... He's trying to get your attention by talking to you. Find out what he wants (food, water, change litter, exc) and do it for him but you might just have a talkative cat.

Get another cat to play with him.
